About us




Michael Laar, the founder of INTELARC, works since 1992 in the area of sustainable architecture and urbanism. He graduated from the Faculty of Architecture - University of Applied Sciences Munich/Germany, holds a Master's Degree in Engineering (with distinction) from the Institute of Technology in the Tropics ITT in Cologne and received the title of Doctor of Engineering at the Bauhaus University in Weimar (Summa Cum Laude).

Active as an architect and engineer since 1993, he has worked as a free lance architect as well as an employed architect, i.e. for the Institute for Ecological Architecture & Urbanism in Cologne/Germany, as a construction site manager for GPP Planung & Projektmanagement in Bonn/Germany and as specialist for bio-climatic architecture for STarquitetura in Rio de Janeiro/Brazil.

Fluent in four languages, Michael Laar has provided over 100 courses and lectures on five continents, focusing on sustainable architecture and urbanism. He has organized various seminars and workshops in several countries and is LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) since 2007.

Participant and project manager in several research projects in Germany, Brazil, Argentina and Cuba, he has published over 70 articles on energy efficiency of buildings, daylighting devices, natural ventilation, human comfort, building simulation programs, green roofs, building materials, Low Carbon Cities and sustainable urbanism.

As a result of his international research experience, patents have been approved in Germany.

INTELARC cooperates with local architects and engineers, national and international institutions, always concentrating on achieving the best possible results for its clients.

Besides realizing architectural projects on different continents, Michael Laar currently works as Professor at the Lutheran University of Brazil, where he also coordinates the mounting of the Laboratory for Sustainable Architecture & Urbanism.
